Four hours later he was waiting at York railway station and he saw a train from Scarborough arriving on platform 4.  When it stopped, some people got off the train.  Steve was standing next to the stairs looking out for Lily. He last saw her six years ago. Now she was over seventeen and he had no idea what she looked like. He thought she would at least have a suitcase because she was going away for two weeks. He hoped she would recognise him.  He didn’t change very much over the last six years. The passengers walked along the platform with their bags but there was nobody who looked like a teenager with a suitcase.  There was one young plump woman who got off the train with a cigarette in her mouth pulling a heavy suitcase behind her.  She was about five feet 7 or 8 inches high and she could weigh 18 stone.  She stopped to light her cigarette.  After smoking for a minute, she threw it away and started looking out for someone.

‘I feel sorry for her,’ thought Steve. ‘A young woman with obesity who has to smoke a cigarette because she can’t cope with stress. What a sad life. But where is Lily?’ Nora didn’t give Steve Lily’s phone number so he couldn’t phone the girl.  He decided to wait for another five minutes. There were other people getting off the train but there was no-one that could look like Lily. Suddenly the fat woman noticed Steve and started walking towards him.  She was smiling at him.

‘Uncle Steve. It’s so good to see you again,’ said the woman.

‘Hi Lily. Long time no see!’ said Steve. He was shocked to find out that the plump woman was his cousin.  He still couldn’t believe it. Lily threw her arms round his neck, kissed him on the cheek and started laughing and telling him everything about the journey.  She almost looked like a twenty-five-year-old woman but she had the spontaneity of a child.

‘Let me carry your case for you,’ suggested Steve.  They walked to the car park, got into the car and drove off.

‘I’m so excited to be here, Uncle.  I hope I will not be a burden to you.  Aunt Nora told me that you need help in the house and that I will be able to help you and do some housework for you.’ They stopped at the traffic lights. There were many cars in front of them but there were no traffic jams and they could go quite fast.
